Does Your Church Have an IT Help Desk?

Posted by John Saddington on Mar 2, 2010

Quick Tuesday afternoon musing:

Does your church have an IT help desk?

We used to have one, I think. It was kind of cool, where people could walk up and drop off their computers, ask for advice, etc.

But, it disappeared a few months ago, and hasn’t resurfaced. I kind of miss it, even though it gave me a prettier view of the parking lot with their departure…

If your church does have an IT Help Desk, take a picture, post it on your blog, and then link it in the comments.

I’ll make a pretty mosaic of them all and we can be even more geeky than we currently are… … … … wait a sec…

Hope you’re having a great Tuesday. We’re almost half-way there…

No IT at all at my church at uni or at home really :(

  2. My church outsources IT…from what I hear, it’s awful.

I’m the only “IT” person on staff, should I just take a picture of my desk? lol. It’s funny because we’re a church with 3 campuses and a large tech/media program. While we’ve kept up technology wise, we haven’t in our IT info structure.

    • you win! we want pics of that desk.

        • dude. that’s so epic.

I know.. isn’t that a sweet flat-screen monitor? lol. Actually, it’s not bad because I get to pioneer some of this stuff, and my attention to details will end up paying off as I do so. Just a way to use the way God created me to help further his kingdom.

  4. Would love to have a helpdesk but we simply aren’t big enough to warrant one.

Instead it’s me on my mobile or via email :)

  5. That’s a cool idea and something I haven’t really thought about.

I would be afraid to start something like that at my church because of the types of problems people would come to you with….”can you make my computer faster?”

I think it’s a great idea though. Just to have some place that people who have no idea what to do and can’t afford or don’t want to pay the geek squad can go for help.

No physical help desk per se but just tonight I was working on setting up Spiceworks to address some of the needs we have (church with 6 full time office staff and about 20 computers on site).

    • hehe. cool.
