Don’t Forget Your Favorite Tools!
Sometimes, I think that we spend so much time focusing on the new technology and software that’s coming out, we often forget just how useful our current tools really are.
Friday seems like a good day for a poll, so let’s try this…
This past week, I’ve spent an inordinate amount of time using Putty to SSH into a couple of machines in order to do some work.
I’ve been using this particular piece of software since I was a freshman in college. I’ve become so comfortable with it that I forgot just how much I actually dig it.
Surely, I’m not the only one that’s done this.
So humor me: What’s one of piece of software that you use regularly that you can’t imagine not having in your toolbox?

CyberDuck in concert with Smultron (or a number of other text editors). Edit files from your server and upload them back on save.
Automator from Apple for doing a lot of mundane tasks.
Pandora One desktop player for sanity.
FileZilla has that same feature (save local, auto upload) and I love it.
I occasionally use Pandora and Grooveshark but always default to my iPod.
Have you tried WinSCP?
Download free from http://www.winscp.net/ – its basically the same tools but with a nice Windows GUI to go with it. Install PuTTY into the same folder and you unleash more power from it.
