Software Programming and Computer Summer Camps

Posted by John Saddington on Jun 18, 2010

Wow. @Dewde and I saw this at a local game center and a flurry of memories hit me. I did a number of these camps when I was younger and I’ll admit that they we’re not very helpful…

Free IT Help Desk Support for Churches and Ministries

Posted by Don Dudley on Jun 17, 2010

Pastor Joe Schmoe has a problem: His laptop is toast. Every time he tries to listen to the latest Wow worship compilation CD, he cannot hear the sound. Whatever will he do? Jane Schmoe (no relation to pastor Schmoe) is the church secretary. Her problem? She printed out too many email forwards (and a couple [...]

OpenVBX Launches Open Source Phone System

Posted by John Saddington on Jun 16, 2010

This could be a godsend for the right ministry (both small and large) that has the technical chops to make it happen. OpenVBX has launched their open source version of their popular phone system software to other organizations for free. The only “catch” is that you’re going to have to use their cloud-based system to [...]

A Few Words to Not Include in Your Church Emails

Posted by John Saddington on Jun 15, 2010

A recent study of the the emails within the Lehman Brother‘s organization revealed that a number of phrases within their emails that “helped” investigators flag information and content that uncovered some “bad dealings” within the org. Fantastic strategy, if I do say so myself. Here’s a list of the some of the words they excavated:

I love Louie and the Passion City Church team. God has done some fantastic things through their ministry and the launch of their local gathering and church has already changed lives. Synchronizing and Organizing Meeting Times with Meetifyr

Posted by John Saddington on Jun 12, 2010

One of the most challenging parts of working in any organization is scheduling. Period. Yes, we have calendaring software like Google Apps and Outlook Exchange and a bunch of others but what if you’re a digital organization and/or team that doesn’t have a “standard” calendar, email system, etc? And what if all that is overkill [...]

HTACCESS Online Editor, Generator and Tool

Posted by John Saddington on Jun 10, 2010

I feel pretty confident that you, at some point, have had to change and/or edit an .HTACCESS file or have been asked to edit and/or change some settings in one. My memory is typically at capacity during these times and looking for the right syntax is always a pain. Thankfully, there’s an “app” for that…!

Prezi Makes Presentations Better, Eyes Won’t Glaze Over

Posted by Don Dudley on Jun 10, 2010

PowerPoint and Keynote slides are sooooooooooooooooooooooo 2009…! Back in the late 1990′s (yea, I’m old), I was able to easily impress my professor into giving me an “A” on a presentation. My trick? Using PowerPoint. I was the only one in class who used it. Now, to be brutally honest, PowerPoint is epically boring. As [...]

What Have You Shipped? Stop Believing Everything You Read.

Posted by John Saddington on Jun 9, 2010

I have noticed that people are too-easily swayed by pop-culture literature these days and it’s starting to gnaw on my conscience. It’s like the newest book out there suddenly become it and everyone and their brother can’t stop talking about how “revolutionary” it is or how “incredibly insightful” the material presents. Give me a break. [...]

Should Churches and Ministries Have URL-Shorteners?

Posted by John Saddington on Jun 9, 2010

The news that Twitter is releasing it’s “official” URL shortener, http://t.co,  is already sweeping across the interwebs and I think the move is both a strategic and helpful one. From their announce post they mentioned how this would provide an extra layer of security so that more “spammy” and harmful links would be filtered out: [...]
